jacks ass
Sucks
Ass?
by Kerri Niemi
Could someone please tell me where this phrase
comes from? I dont think I have heard such harsh words used
before to describe distaste - and I have heard it used more
times then I dare count.
Not only is the term problematic, but the venom with which
the words are said is disturbing.
Something doesnt just suck, (a questionable
derogation already) but it sucks the least appealing part
of ones body; well, unless youre an ass person - then the
whole idea holds some appeal.
Physically ass sucking can be quite erotic in the moment,
so I dont understand the complete disgust that comes with
the words sucks ass.
When someone says something like "that movie sucked
ass, they seem to assume I share their understanding of the
term; but I flat out dont. Are they using the term to mask
feeling and/or emotion? Are they trying to shut down conversation,
leaving no possibility of elaboration or explanation?
Maybe I am too literal, but this lazy use of the English
language is irksome. I dont use the phrase (at least I dont
think I do), because those two words together perplex me.
Maybe all the liberal users of the phrase sucks ass
just needs a good ass sucking to clear things up for them.
Then maybe whats needed is a little more physical, and less
verbal, ass sucking; intimacy not vulgarity.
