Bold new hire at Examiner
AS A FRESH NEW CROP of graduating journalists are about to be unleashed
into the newsrooms across the country, the Peterborough Examiner
is making a bold choice. In a recently won bidding war with several
small town lack luster publications
The infamous plagiarist and prevaricator Jayson Blair -
formally of The New York Times, agreed to sign on with our
local paper for a two-year contract. Blair, relieved from his position
with the N.Y.Times for his unique style of fictional journalism,
has set a new standard for aspiring hacks. Simon & Schuster
is set to release "The Fabulist" penned by like
minded journalist Stephen Glass who wrote fabrications for
the New Republic, Atlantic Monthly and the defunct
George magazines.
Those who still held trust in the words printed in the dailies
will feel a quake at the very core of their beliefs, while the jaded
among us will surely smirk in affirmation.
The senior editors at the Examiner - a paper which once boasted
literary notable Robertson Davies as publisher, defended
their unorthodox decision saying "...its more than just boosting
sales, its also a move to boost this towns moral. If anyone can
make us believe something interesting is going on here, we should
back him all the way."
In this Jack exclusive, our sources reveal Blairs first
assignment at his new post: watch for his in-depth investigation
of the serial murders at Quaker Oats.
