BIBLE READING

“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in
righteousness, so that the woman of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16,17

”Search To Find Ministries” has provided this section, Bible Reading, in “My Journal for Life’s Journey” to show us the wonderful truths God has given us in His Word. God’s Word is filled with promises, encouragement, and guidance for your life’s journey.

Carrying your Bible to church is not a sign of a personal relationship with God. Your Bible is to live by; not to merely own. Only as it is voluntarily and habitually used can it bring its message to our souls. That message is that God sent His Son Jesus to live, to die, then to return to the Father and to bring eternal life to those who believe in Him.

Satan does everything in his power to keep us from reading the Word of God. We should live by every Word that comes from the mouth of God. Matthew 22:29 says “you are in error because you do not know the Scriptures.” Read, really read, carefully and prayerfully not haphazardly. Random reading will bring crumbs of comfort and inspiration. However, why be satisfied with crumbs? We should not just read the word, but study it. And not only occasionally or for a little while. The Holy Spirit wrote the scriptures. He knows their meaning. He will open them to us and we will understand. Be taught by the Holy Spirit. We need His help. We need to read, meditate, study, love, and obey them. Believe it is God’s word. Love the word of God. God says to keep His commandments. But how are we to know what His commandments are, unless we read the Bible! Jesus promised that He will teach us a greater understanding of God and a closer walk with Him.

JOURNAL APPLICATION:

The entire Bible is laid out in small sections so that if you read one section every day you will read the entire Bible in one year. Underline the verses in the Bible that stand out with a coloured pencil. Use the pages provided to take notes.

There are three things to think of as you read:

1. What is the passage about?
2. What do I think Holy Spirit wants to teach me from this passage?
3. How can I put this information to use and pass it on to others?
