|
The Club had another very successful shooting gallery at the Evinrude Center April 21-22, 2007. This is the 4th year that PF&GA has participated in the Kawartha Outdoor & Adventure Show. We had 53 volunteers to help man the booth. Included in that total were 5 juniors. The attendance at our booth was 727 shooters. . We had 494 pellet shooters and 233 laser shooters. Based on observation PF&GA had one of the most popular booths at the show. According to the Peterborough Examiner our competition was the Bassmaster casting booth and Saugeen Shafts archery booth. The newspaper reported that for 2006 they had 6,500 attendees. Carey Walker stated he thought this year would be higher. He gave no figures for under 12 attendees. The slight increase in revenues was somewhat disappointing. The weather was just too beautiful after a period of lousy weather. People wanted to stay outside. This year our booth was an impressive 20x40 with the falling plate range, an action shooting static display, a SCA static display and the OFAH laser shooting gallery Our T-shirts gave the booth a very professional look Big thanks to Al McK and Rona/Cashway for the donation of an outdoor light set valued at $200. It resulted in a lot of free air time on the KRUZ and The Wolf radio stations. They mentioned of our name a few times a day in the last 10 days prior to the show Thanks to CSSA for the loan of 3 additional air pistols 3 air rifles. As a result, we were able to have a pistol and rifle at each shooting lane. I’d say we had no line-ups this year. Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped during the booth set-up, work a shift at the show and tear-down. Special thanks to Chris Carslake for his many tools. Special thanks to Phil for picking up the air rifles from the CSSA. Without all this help this year’s show wouldn’t have been such a success and went off without a hitch. This year for the first time PF&GA was able to get the laser shooting gallery from the OFAH. The program had about 15 different scenarios and the shooter had a choice between rifle or shotgun This gallery seemed to appeal to the teenagers in the crowd. Although there was one lad about 9 or 10 that scored 100 on the prairie dog scenario. An amazing feat as these critters scampered about the field!! He went away with junior program literature for sure. Don Davey, Phil Ferguson and Brad Harding had an action shooting video running at the show that proved to be very popular. The SCA section had a very impressive display at the show. This is the first year that the SCA participated in the Outdoor Show. Special thanks to Valerie West and her crew.
