Welcome to the The Canton of Petrea Thule, in the Barony of Septentria, in the Kingdom of Ealdormere. Petrea Thule is the Peterborough, Ontario branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism. The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an international non-profit educational organization dedicated to researching and re-creating pre-17th-century European history.

In these pages you will find information about the SCA, Life in the Current Middle Ages, and about what we do.  Medieval combat, archery, clothing, dancing, feasting, and so much more awaits you!

What is the Society of Creative Anachronism? Quite simply, it's lots of things! One of the best online references is found at a website maintained outside of our control - but it's still pretty amazing! Find it here and then come back and find out more about the Canton of Petrea Thule.

Upcoming Events!

Now that the summer is here, we have suspended our weeknight meetings due to Trent University pretty much being closed for the summer. The meetings will resume again in September along with a major public demonstration at the Peterborough Public Library on September 13. Details to follow.

• Pikeman's Pleasure was an overwhelming success. We would like to thank everyone that came for what turned out to be a perfect day that was filled with great food and great fun! We've even started thinking about Pikeman's Pleasure XX for 2010!

• Many of our canton will be attending a sponsored event in cooperation with the Canton of Swan's Keep... Into the Woods on a Midsummer's Eve. This event running over the weekend of June 19-21 will feature lots of fun, fighting, archery and our own Augusytn's special 40th Birthday Celebration!

• Planning is also starting for War of the Trillium V to be held in Whitby on the weekend of July 4-6. Details can be found on the event website.

• Archery practice will be on most Sundays at the indoor ranges at the Peterborough Fish & Game Association. We will be there from 1:00pm to approximately 6:00pm with lots of practice time and shooting on the outdoor multi-purpose range with targets up to 40 yards. An IKAC will often be shot depending on the number of archers.
