What on earth
Is it all about?
As the world gets smaller
there ain't no doubt
there's so much information
that's no exaggeration
What on earth
makes the world go round
the answers they are all around
just what you're lookin' for
can be found at your front door
What on earth
{do do do do}
What on earth

"What On Earth" was a half-hour talk show that originated in Regina, Saskatchewan and was broadcasted across Canada Monday through Friday on CBC. Bruce Steele managed to squeeze 3 guests into almost every episode. However, the show rarely felt rushed. The set looked like the interior of a neighbor's home. The interviews were friendly chats over cups of coffee and not stale studio banter. Guests ranged from various professionals, to therapists, to unknown artists and stars like Valdy and Crystal Gayle.

After 5 years and 595 episodes, the show was canceled in the mid-90's due to budget cutbacks at CBC. Episodes have been aired on the Life Network in 1995 and more recently, on Prime.

Film Crew Productions who created the series has since changed its name to West Wind Pictures. It now has offices in Regina and Toronto.

Ken Beatty, a reoccuring guest on the show, appeared on CBC's The Canadian Gardener. He has also been on two shows which aired on the network formerly known as The Womens's Television Network - The Herbal Primer and Earth's Garden. He also hosted a phone-in gardening show called Get Growing on the new WTN called the W Network.
